Families celebrate the last day of winter

Bakersfield, CA-Today is the first day of spring but yesterday families celebrated the last day of winter by going to parks and holding picnics. My daughter and I went to Park at the River Walk for our a short walk and bike ride. The weather was perfect for a family stroll, bike rides and wading in the stream. A few families were swimming in the lake, too. Well, yeah, doesn’t look much like winter but it is the last day of the season. Welcome Spring!

Beautiful park! It reminds me on the one near our house in Los Angeles when we used to live there. It’s starting to warm up where we are too. My husband actually started digging up our our garden this week. I can’t wait to start my pinakbet garden again

I’m looking forward, too, to the fresh vegetables that comprise one of of my favorite dishes - Pinakbet! Just thinking about it makes my tummy rumble.
