The price is right?
Posted by digitalchain under Events, People, Ramblings, Thinking Aloud | Tags: New Yok, prostitution, Spitzer |It’s all over the news. The fall from grace of Eliot Spitzer resulted in his resignation as New York’s Governor. Apart from the politics of it all is the matter of pricing for a sexual fantasy delivered by a call girl with a hefty price tag. Harold Meyer of the Washington Post commented:
I’ve given serious thought to this over the past day, and I’m not sure that I’ve even had a sexual fantasy that, if actualized, would be worth $5,500 an hour.

What is the difference between a cheap prostitute and an expensive one is still baffling me - how do they actualize the service? I find this rather amusing but then again it is a sad commentary on the moral affairs of the times.
In the Philippines the cheapest prostitute can be had for the price of a bottle of beer and a few sticks of cigarette about Ps. 50.00. But an article from Mabuhay Radio mentions the pricing for local “magdalenas”:
From what I gathered, the usual rate for a decent-looking young Filipino woman is P1,500 per night or US$30 (roughly @ $1/P50). Rates can go up to $100 (P5,000) per night for the better-looking and younger call girls. Another DOM said that for $300 (P15,000) or less, one can have the short-time company of a movie starlet. And indeed, the rates in Metro Manila are way below those charged by brothels in Nevada and other sin cities in the United States, as one Fil-Am retiree explained to his buddies. And more often than not, the rate for a Filipino call girl is per night for unlimited action. The rates are much lower in the Philippine provinces, although often times the girls are supposed to be younger.

But at the end of the day, Spritzer did the right thing and stepped down from office. At least I can say that he rose to the occasion by apologizing and taking responsibility for his actions. But sadly enough, this does not hold true for some politicians in the Philippines.

Spitzer did the right thing to vacate the governorship pronto! He is sane still.
I really had high hopes for this guy since he was a regular at CNN and FOX during the height of the O J Simpson before and after the trial. And I was never surprised to see him win as NY Guv, and maybe go on as a Senator or even the presidency at some point.
But for him to ruin his career bigtime for a sorry piece of ass is just troublesome. Factor in all the families from both sides and it’s indeed heartbreaking. Cheers!
